Company History

North Coast Smallgoods has been run by the same family since 1991. Back then the Sunshine Plaza and the University of the Sunshine Coast didn’t even exist. The population of the Coast at that time was 90,000. It now approaches 325,000, so over the years we have witnessed the arrival of many people and all the changes that followed.

It used to be a quiet sandy surf town and now it is very busy cosmopolitan mecca with the new Maroochydore CBD and new International Airport both taking shape during 2020.

We have also witnessed firsthand the change in people’s tastes.
The Coast now has a huge selection of dining experiences, from sitting opposite the beach and enjoying breakfast as the sun comes up at Noosa, to having lunch with breathtaking views at Montville, to finishing the day in style with dinner at the Mooloolaba Wharf.

Just like the Sunshine Coast, we have grown too – from hand written invoices to hand-held computers, from two refrigerated vehicles to many, from one staff member to many.

Whilst we may have a greater product range, more staff, more trucks, we have still maintained the same high level of service that set us apart from our competitors back in the 90’s.

Along the journey we have :

  • Won the Sunshine Coast Business Award in 2013 in the category – Hospitality ( Large Business).
  • Finished 2Nd in the Sunshine Coast Business Awards in 2014 in the category – Food & Agribusiness.
  • Joined the Australia wide buying group NAFDA ( National Australian Food Distributors Assoc) in 2017. This has given us greater buying power, a more diverse product range and a points reward system for our customers.
  • Ongoing technology updates, which allow us to offer more options for our customers when placing their orders, invoices that are finalised at the point of sale and printed in the truck ( allowing upsells, credits and price changes).

We look forward to supplying all the Coast food outlets in the years ahead.
